Farley Lai is a Ph.D. candidate under the supervision of Prof. Octav Chipara in Computer Science at the University of Iowa. He received his M.S. with thesis on distributed mutual exclusion and scheduling fairness in Computer Science and Information Engineering from National Central University in Taiwan. Before coming to the University of Iowa, he had been working in the surveillance industry and led a project of developing video management software. His current research focuses on high performance stream processing in terms of modeling the runtime behavior and improving resource efficiency of stream applications through compile-time analysis.
